Elsevier released an exciting book about ‚Skin Tissue Models’ on November 21st, which includes a book chapter from Ana & Beate about how to grow hair in the dish. We are proud that one of our images made it onto the cover! 🙂

In the November Issue, the FEBS News magazine published a short feature about Beate, who had received a FEBS Long-Term Fellowship for her postdoctoral studies in 2011 and a grant from the FEBS Fellowship Follow-up Research Fund in 2016, which supported her to set up her own lab in Vienna.

Oct 2017 | Ernst Klenk Symposium
The Ernst Klenk Symposium in Cologne was about ‘Tissue regeneration, wound healing and fibrosis – Translating basic concepts into regenerative therapy’ this year and included a fantastic program with a keynote lecture by Sabine Werner. See → Klenk Symposium 2017.
Beate had the opportunity to present some of our newest data about fibroblast heterogeneity in wound healing and fibrosis at the Post-Klenk Minisymposium ‘Next generation female leaders pushing epidermal-dermal crosstalk’.

Beate attended the 9th ÖGMBT Annual Meeting 2017 & 8th Life Science Meeting Innsbruck about ‘Molecular & cellular mechanisms of human diseases’ and the 47th Annual Meeting of the European Society of Dermatological Research (ESDR) in Salzburg with an exciting line up of speakers.
At the ESDR, our collaborator Maria Kasper from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm was awarded with the LEO Foundation Gold Award for her exceptional advances within dermatology research, which were achieved by combining in vivo lineage tracing with single cell profiling. Mar 2017 | FWF awards Beate M. Lichtenberger’s project
The Austrian Science Fund (FWF) awards Beate with one of the prestigious career development fellowships for female scientists of the Elise-Richter-Program for her research project ‘CAFs in Cancer’ in June 2016. The official handover of the certificate took place on the international women’s day on March 8th 2017 with MUV Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Michaela Fritz and FWF president Klement Trockner.
Dec 2016 | Beate receives the Austrian Dermatology Award
Beate M. Lichtenberger receives the Unilever/Austrian Dermatology Award 2016 for her publication Epidermal β-catenin activation remodels the dermis via paracrine signalling to distinct fibroblast lineages published in Nature Communications in Feb 2016. Congratulations Beate!
